watching a movie in Nepal is like watching a movie with your mother

Remember when you were like 12 and watching a movie with your parents could become really awkward really fast? (and for some people, like myself, it can still feel this way as an adult).

I first experienced this when I watched There’s Something About Mary with my mother. There are just certain topics that come up that aren’t parent friendly.

This is how I felt last night when we were all at our local cafe for their movie night. They move all of the furniture and project a movie on the wall. It’s really pretty great.

They play western movies, and western movies have western cultural values.

Translation: nudity.

It may have just been for me, but awakwardness definitely took over.
